Client: Private client
Located in the Lake District, a National Park in the North of England, this two bedroom residential extension was an investigation into the realisation of a contemporary Lakeland vernacular. An exercise in using local materials in a modern way to create a large extension to a Victorian house in the picturesque village of Staveley, in the heart of the National Park.
Alex Jones was Project Architect throughout the design and construction of the house for a private client. The challenges of the project included local planning restrictions and careful liaison with the Environment Agency due the proximity to the River Staveley.
